Working Mother magazine is the latest to recognize the Kellogg Co. for its diversity in the workplace.

The magazine says keeping its workforce healthy is a priority for this food giant.

To make the Working Mother list companies must support family programs that help employees in all areas of their lives — including offering paid maternity leave, lactation rooms, flextime, mental health consultations and elder-care resources. Kellogg offers such programs and also has a robust health and wellness program.

Women make up 37 percent of the company’s 20,264 employee work force. And 26 percent of the company’s managers, senior managers and corporate execs are women. Women make up 33 percent of Kellogg’s top wage earners.

And parents who need to take their kids on a business trip for Kellogg will have their child-care costs fully reimbursed by the company.

It’s the fifth time in 2010 that Kellogg has be honored for its inclusiveness.

The company has a long-standing commitment to fostering a work environment that values diversity and inclusion, says Nathalie Davis, senior director of diversity and Inclusion for Kellogg Co.

“We recognize that it is our diversity that strengthens us and inclusion that will advance us,” Davis says.”That’s why we depend on our people to draw on their different perspectives in order to contribute unique ideas and help us maintain and expand our success.”

Other recognitions for the Kellogg Co. this year are:

• DiversityInc: 25 Noteworthy Companies for diversity

• Hispanic Business: Diversity Elite 60

• LATINA Style: LATINA Style 50 best companies for diversity

• National Association for Female Executives: Top 50 Companies for Executive Women

These awards recognize Kellogg employees dedication to celebrating and supporting diversity in their everyday actions, Davis says.
