July fun in Mt. Pleasant: Fireworks, fairs, and festivals

The heat is on and July is jam-packed with fun and exciting events throughout Mt. Pleasant. From the casino’s Fourth of July fireworks display to riding a ferris wheel at the county fair, explore a few Mt. Pleasant events this July. 

Music in the Park Summer Concert Series
Calling all music lovers: You won’t want to miss the weekly “Music in the Park Concert Series” on rotating weeknights from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m at Island Park. Experience dueling pianos on July 2; ‘90s country music from The Bootstrap Boys on July 11; hit covers from Native Fireball on July 18; and vintage jazz, classic country, and americana folk from Monte Pride on July 25. 

Fourth of July Fun at the Mt. Pleasant Farmers’ Market
On July 4, there will be a special farmers’ market complete with a kids bike race at 10 a.m. (participants line up at 9:45 a.m.) and a park-wide party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market will be open regular hours from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
 
Free Fireworks Show at Soaring Eagle Casino 
Parking will be available on streets around Soaring Eagle Casino for a free fireworks display in celebration of Indepence Day. The spectacular annual show will begin at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.) on Friday, July 5.

Native Farmers Market
Find seasonal produce, baked goods, beaded/sculpted/natural art, and Indigenous foods at the Broadway Park Native Farmers Market at the corner of Broadway and Leaton. The market runs every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Brunch in the Garden with Art Reach
Join Art Reach of Mid Michigan and Mountain Town Station for their annual Brunch in the Garden fundraiser on Sunday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. This is a family friendly event with food served buffet-style along with a variety of brunch items.

Sleepy Dog Books Author Event
Sleepy Dog Books will host Chad Broughman, author of “The Fall of Bellwether,” for a special author event at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18. Read more about the event and about Broughman’s work here

8th Annual Home Builders Thunder Car Show
Admire classic cars, hot rods, motorcycles, and the best and fastest automobiles of today at the 8th Annual Home Builders Thunder Car Show. The event will take place at a new location this year, the Home Depot parking lot, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20.

Murder at the Broadway Movie Screening
Join the Chippewa River District Library True Crime Club for a free screening of “Anatomy of a Murder” (1959) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. Register here.

Isabella County Fair 
The Isabella County Youth and Farm Fair promises to be full of fun and entertainment for all ages. The fair will run from Monday, July 22 through Saturday, July 27 at the Isabella County Fairgrounds at 500 N. Mission Rd. Enjoy a rodeo, a midway full of rides, tractor pulls, a demolition derby and more! Find all the details here

Mawby and Flower Bird Farms Event at Pleasant City Coffee
Pleasant City Coffee is hosting a special event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 for $30 per person at their downtown Mt. Pleasant location. A representative from Suttons Bay’s Mawby Vineyards and Winery will be pouring four to five tastings of their sparkling wine. Attendees will also receive charcuterie and FlowerBird Farm & Garden will be offering an add-on flower bar for an additional $20. Advance tickets are preferred, but not required. (Interested in more floral events? Pleasant City Coffee will also be hosting FlowerBird Farms on July 14 from 2 to 4 p.m.)

40th Annual Saginaw Chippewa Pow Wow / Tribal Jiingtamok
Visit the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal Campground to experience and learn about native traditions in a natural setting with authentic foods, arts and crafts, dancing, and storytelling. The 40th Annual Saginaw Chippewa Pow Wow kicks off Friday, July 26 at 7 p.m. and runs through Sunday, July 28.
