Dahlia: Digging, Dividing, and Storing
Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at FlowerBird Farm & Garden
It’s the time of year to dig, store, and divide dahlia tubers. Join owner, Anna Monfils, and fellow dahlia enthusiasts out at FlowerBird Farm & Garden to learn methods of digging, washing, dividing, and storing dahlia tubers. The Meijer Visiting Writers Series: A Reading by Nandi Comer
Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Park Library’s Opperman Auditorium
Michigan Poet Laureate Nandi Comer will give a reading in Central Michigan University’s Opperman Auditorium with a book signing to follow in CMU’s Clarke Historical Library. Parade of Trees Family Fun Night, Auction, and Concert
Friday, Nov. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Little Flower Barn
Art Reach of Mid Michigan invites families from the community to come together and celebrate the holiday spirit with a weekend of festive fun. Free and open to the public, Friday’s Family Night event offers cocoa, cookies, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus. On Saturday evening, adults can purchase tickets to enjoy a cash bar and a potato bar, along with a tree raffle, an ugly sweater contest, and live music by Michigan’s own Big Smile. Visitors can also preview the Parade of Trees, purchase raffle tickets, and enjoy a soup & bread luncheon ($5) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Bullseyes and Bevs Axe Throwing: Grown Ups Night Out
Saturday, Nov. 9 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at Valhalla Indoor Axe Throwing
Join other adults at Valhalla Indoor Axe Throwing for a fun night out away from that long list of responsibilities! In addition to axe throwing, participants can also enjoy corn hole, drinks, and prizes.

Pumpkin Palooza Fall Festival
Sunday, Nov. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Papa’s Pumpkin Patch
Head out to Papa’s Pumpkin Patch for a family friendly fall festival. Activity booths will feature kid-friendly games, fun prizes, crafts and snacks. Remember to make a stop at the country store and snap some memorable photos around the property.

Chippewa Valley Audubon Club Program: Live Raptors
Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Wildlife Recovery Association presents a close look at live hawks and owls in an enjoyable and informative presentation. Learn about cavity nesting birds, hunting techniques of falcons, specialized adaptations of American kestrels, and camouflage used by barred owls. The Faculty Reading Series: Jeffrey Bean and Darrin Doyle

Join CMU professors Jeffrey Bean and Darrin Doyle for an evening reading at the Bovee University Center Rotunda. Jeffrey Bean is the author of three chapbooks and three full-length poetry collections. His most recent full-length collection, “Everywhere, Everywhere,” was chosen for the 2024 Vern Rutsala Prize. Darrin Doyle is the author of seven books of fiction, most recently the novella “Let Gravity Seize the Dead.” This event is free and open to the public. Save the date for this year’s Mt. Pleasant Christmas Celebration. This year’s town center ribbon cutting will take place on Friday before the tree lighting and the holiday market will take place on Friday only.
