Investing in community health: MyMichigan Medical Center’s $3M renovation and MRI upgrade

What’s Happening: Serving the Mt. Pleasant and Isabella County communities since 2000, MyMichigan Health recently announced updates to the MyMichigan Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant. The plan includes investing over $860,000 to renovate space, expand outpatient services, and align physician specialties to enhance patient experience and improve access. In addition to the renovation, MyMichigan Health will also invest $2.3 million in state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

What They’re Saying: “Adding on-site MRI ensures our providers and staff have access to the best imaging equipment available and our patients have an excellent experience,” says Jennifer Marar, MSHAL, director of operations at MyMichigan Medical Center Mt. Pleasant. “This state-of-the-art MRI offers a powerful magnet that provides highly detailed images for enhanced diagnostics, making it easier for providers to identify and pinpoint medical concerns and helps reduce the number of repeat exams. I am excited for these renovations because it offers our patients improved access, added convenience, and a positive experience while receiving healthcare services close to their home.”

“We are very excited about this renovation and revitalization project that will enhance our Medical Center to continue to meet today’s needs and position us to evolve with future health care demands,” adds Marita Hattem-Schiffman, F.A.C.H.E., C.P.M.S.M., president of MyMichigan Medical Centers in Alma, Clare, and Mt. Pleasant. “We are committed to providing excellent care and keeping patients close to home while enhancing our 24/7 comprehensive health care services to residents throughout the area.”

What’s Changing: Existing 10,000 square feet of space on the south section of the Medical Center will be reconfigured—including expansion and more privacy for outpatient registration, an expansion for the Walk-In Care and waiting area, enlarging the laboratory, and creating a private room for adults and children who need to lie down. Additionally, sports medicine will be relocated to the second floor, closer to orthopedics and rehabilitation services. Relocation for ear, nose, and throat services will be moved to the first floor as well.

What’s the Same: During the renovations, the ambulatory surgery center and emergency care will continue daily operations with little to no impact. Access to 24/7 x-ray, lab services, self-service kiosk, and online scheduling will all continue to be offered.
