The “
Mid Michigan 40 Under 40 Awards” is an initiative designed to celebrate and recognize young professionals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated remarkable achievements and contributions to their communities in Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella and Osceola counties.
Middle Michigan Development Corporation (MMDC) and Greater Gratiot Development Inc. accepted nominations for the 2024 “Mid Michigan 40 Under 40 Awards” 2024 class July 31 through September 13, 2024.
Jim McBryde, President and CEO of Middle Michigan Development Corporation, expressed enthusiasm about this year's awards, stating, "The Mid Michigan 40 Under 40 Awards are an excellent opportunity to recognize the incredible talent we have in our region. These young professionals are not only excelling in their careers but also contributing to the growth and betterment of our communities. We are excited to see the diverse group of nominees this year and to celebrate their achievements."

CLARE COUNTY AWARDEES
Lacey Badelt, 38
Owner at Wildflower & Wren Market
Leadership: As a proud, lifelong Clare resident I am passionate about sharing the love I have for my community and the amazing people in it! As an advocate for small business, my focus is increasing traffic in our downtown district and working together to create a memorable experience for everyone that visits. I created Wildflower & Wren Market to showcase multiple small businesses all in one space as well as to create a true Small Town experience for guests. I was honored with the Clare Small Business Award from MMDC and participated in the Downtown Pitch Competition. I am thrilled to be included in 40 under 40 & am excited to continue cheering on my peers and our community!
Fun Fact: I have a little hobby farm I love!

Not only has she opened up a retail store in Downtown Clare, but she was in charge this year with the Irish Festival and is involved in countless chamber and community activities. Megan Boyk, 31
Family Physician, MyMichigan Health - Clare
Leadership: I am a family physician and began working with MyMichigan Health in August 2023 after completing my family medicine residency, health services management fellowship, and masters degree in public affairs in South Bend, IN. This prepared me not only for my clinical practice, but also for work in public health, advocacy, care for underserved populations, and partnering with community organizations to improve health at the population level. This led me to Clare County, where health metrics fall behind many other Michigan counties. Currently, my clinical practice includes outpatient primary care and inpatient care for my patients in Clare, and I also spend time each month working on community outreach and education initiatives. Additionally, I have been traveling almost yearly to Honduras for over 10 years to do medical relief work. I look forward to seeing what the coming years will bring as I get to know Clare even better!
Fun Fact: I am a singer and have been in choir all the way from middle school through high school, college, and my medical school a cappella group, DocAppella. Currently I am a member of Central Michigan University's Festival Choir and am glad to be singing again after taking a break during residency and the COVID pandemic.
Biggest Fan: "Dr. Boyk without hesitation or prior contact has made herself available whenever the needs arise to treat a patient from the Amish Eating Disorder clinic. The clinic administrator is so grateful for her willingness to help. Our community is safer, and the health needs are better met because of Dr. Boyk!" - Glenn King
Savannah Cavanaugh, 32
Deputy Treasurer (Treasurer-Elect) - Hayes Township, Clare County
Leadership: I have always enjoyed being active in my community. Whether in a leadership role, as a community member, or as a mother, I’ve always believed in showing up and doing what is right. I enjoy volunteering and have worked with the City of Harrison, Harrison Area Chamber of Commerce, and various youth sports organizations. Recently, I graduated from the Michigan Township Association’s Township Governance Academy, becoming a certified board member before I take office as Treasurer for Hayes Township later this year. Looking ahead, I eagerly anticipate my official swearing-in ceremony in November. I am excited to continue learning the role and serving the community with dedication.

Mick Haley, 34
Manager, Snow Snake Ski & Golf
Leadership: My most notable example of community leadership comes from my four years served as councilman for the City of Harrison, from 2020-2024. During this time, I successfully led efforts to bring in new business, beautify the city, and improve safety for residents. After moving out of the city and resigning from council, I have continued to remain involved in the community and am currently running for election for the Harrison School Board. Aside from local government, I also lead the Harrison Alumni. I organize our largest annual event which recognizes new Harrison Alumni Hall of Fame members, raises funds for the alumni scholarship, and awards the alumni scholarship.

Maegan Jenkins, 29
EMT - B, Mobile Medical Response
Leadership: I’m an owner / operator of Elm Creek Lawn and Landscape, I am a firefighter for the city of Clare, and I am an EMT for MMR in my city. I am an elected city commissioner for the city of Clare.
Every year Elm Creek donates a landscaping project to the city of Clare. Being an EMT has given me the opportunity to dedicate all of my time to my community. I love to help people and I’m currently in Paramedic school trying to further my education to help even more. In my “spare” time, I am usually at the fire department. I was also a driving force in bringing an EMT academy to the city of Clare to bring more opportunities for our community!
Fun Fact: My husband and I bought our own fire truck last year and are working on restoring it, just for fun!

Jason Walters, 32
Department of Public Works Supervisor
Leadership: I’m Jason Walters, the DPW Supervisor for the Village of Farwell, where I’ve had the privilege of working for over ten years. I hold L1 and L2 Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certifications, as well as S4 and D4 Drinking Water Operator Certifications. Recently, I have helped put together projects such as our Millpond Project and our Headworks Building. My responsibilities include water and sewer maintenance, maintaining village properties, and helping organize our hometown parades and events. I strive to make my contributions meaningful, and I appreciate the opportunity to connect with residents and staff through friendly banter and a positive attitude. It truly takes a village to keep a community strong, and I’m grateful to play a role in that strength for Farwell. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a wonderful community.

Leadership: As a highly skilled professional with over 5 years working in Child Advocacy Center’s in both direct service and administrative roles, I have spent her professional career dedicated to the implementation of the CAC Model and the work being done by Child Advocacy Centers across the region. I started my professional career right here at Northern Michigan Alliance for Children as an intern in 2016 and I am so excited to have my journey come full circle moving to the Executive Director role in 2023. I pride myself in my role as a safe adult, dedicated to keeping our children safe by providing resources and education and continuously advocating for children and families in our community. My motto at work and at home is “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” No one person has all of the knowledge, skills and experience to protect our children. Only together can we create a community where children are safe, healthy, and happy. Most recently I was awarded the Shining Star Award at Northern Michigan Alliance for Children's 10th Anniversary Evening of Impact Gala to recognize her work and commitment for going above and beyond to support children. My heart is full of gratitude for all the talented people I have the privilege of working alongside and love for the community that has welcomed me with open arms.

Biggest Fan: "Desirea stepped into the Executive Director role for Northern Michigan Alliance for Children in August of 2023. She is a phenomenal leader and a caring and supportive boss. She has worked to help prevent and address child abuse at child advocacy centers in this region for over 5 years, previously working in a multitude of roles at Safe and Sound Child Advocacy Center in Midland. She goes above and beyond for her community and staff and deserves all the recognition in the world. She’s also an amazing mom of 3 beautiful children." - Richard Johnson

Phillip Andrist, 37
Fire Chief, Beaverton Area Fire Department
Leadership: I have been responsible for acquiring numerous pieces of lifesaving equipment while also engaging in and hosting countless community safety events. As a certified Fire Instructor, I have taught and continue to teach the next generation of firefighters in and around central Michigan. I never hesitate to show up for the Beaverton Community in any fashion and will continue to take pride in the community I serve.

Leadership: As HR Manager at Saint-Gobain Life Sciences in Beaverton, I am very passionate about our people and our surrounding community. My team works with local agencies, such as United Way, to help promote employee participation in local volunteer opportunities. We have a very compassionate workforce that goes above and beyond for our community! We also frequently host donation drives for a variety of causes that support our neighbors. I am also a member of the Workforce Development Board for Region 7B. On a personal level, I volunteer for our elementary school’s PTO and participate in our church’s hospitality team and children’s church programs.
Fun Fact: I enjoy bowhunting and being out in the woods, especially in the fall. I have also recently taken up leatherworking and am having fun learning a new hobby and having an opportunity to be creative.
Proud Moment: Amanda and team have launched/completed several projects that are also helping drive this initiative, including stay interviews with top talent, improving the hourly performance appraisal process, monthly check-ins with supervisors, job shadowing program for employee development and succession, volunteer coordination with the United Way just to name a few.
Lindsay Golden, 36

Leadership: I have demonstrated exceptional leadership within my community through my work at Mid Michigan College, particularly in advancing K-12 dual enrollment and early middle college programs. By fostering strong relationships with K-12 partners, I coordinated support for over 1,400 dual-enrolled students, enhancing their access to higher education. Notably, I created a robust communication strategy that streamlined interactions and established the Central Michigan Dual/Concurrent Enrollment Advisory Committee to promote best practices. In addition, I played a key role in developing the WAVE initiative, set to launch in 2024, which aims to empower local students with post-secondary preparation. My commitment to continuous growth is reflected in my participation in the Mid Michigan College Leadership Academy and the Disney Institute for Business Excellence. These experiences have enriched my leadership skills and allowed me to engage meaningfully in community initiatives, positively impacting students and local economic development.

Proud Moment: The Beaverton Saint Gobain site is mostly a custom business and we have traditionally struggled with meeting promised deliveries to customers. Since Ryan has been at the site we have seen a 200% sustained increase to our promised deliveries. This increase has developed greater customer trust and enhanced our business in the process.

Leadership: Over the past 12 years, I have had the opportunity to grow in my leadership role. I have been involved in many different initiatives to create safe and quality care to our patients in our community by sticking to my values of integrity, accountability and excellence. Currently I am the project lead for our revitalization project for Clare. I look forward to being able to better serve our patients in the Clare community with the updates that are happening to our facility. I am actively involved in our Patient and Family Advisory Council along with volunteering at Food Distributions and United Way events.
Fun Fact: My husband, kids and I enjoy farming. We have a small beef cattle farm. We love to travel as a family as well and hope to visit all 50 states.

Leadership: Contributing to the well-being and growth of our community through active involvement is deeply important to me. As a Board member of the Emerging Leaders Special Interest Group for the Central Michigan Manufacturers Association, I engage young professionals through networking and professional development events, fostering future leadership. I am a proud graduate of the 2022 Leadership Development Workshop, organized by the Gratiot County Young Professionals Network, where I enhance my communication, active listening, and teamwork skills. I continue to participate in GYPN’s initiatives, including food drives, lunch-and-learn sessions, and community outreach projects. My involvement in Powell’s Diaper Dash, which resulted in the largest diaper donation to Child Advocacy’s Baby Pantry, was exceptionally rewarding and positively impacted Gratiot County families. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to community service, collaboration, and empowering others.

Leadership: Upon returning to Gratiot County to raise our family, my husband and I committed to engaging with our community. I actively pursued personal and professional development through local lunch and learns, speaker series at Alma College, and the Gratiot County Young Professionals Network's Leadership Development workshop. These experiences have shaped my leadership through action. I have volunteered at our local school district, participated in fundraisers for the schools and community organizations, and engaged with initiatives at Alma College. Additionally, I serve on the steering committee for the Alma Highland Festival, promoting Scottish arts, and I am proud to be part of the Gratiot County Community Foundation's Grant Review Committee and the secretary for the Alma Public Schools Elementary PTO. Recently, I decided to return to the classroom to engage with families directly, further deepening my commitment to our community.
Fun Fact: I have a love-hate relationship with crowds. I find large events thrilling and exciting, but during my downtime, I love to spend time outside with my husband and three children. We enjoy seeking out the next community event that features the arts, STEAM, culture, and more. I’m always looking for the next festival to attend or food truck to try. Most of our adventures end with ice cream or a visit to a new park to play at.

Leadership: From a young age, I’ve been actively involved in my community, starting with volunteering for Breckenridge’s Arbor Day, where I raked leaves and cleaned up Ridgelawn Cemetery. Throughout high school, I painted park equipment and assisted with the local youth basketball program. Now, as a young adult, I participate in fundraising events like golf outings and road races. In 2023, I completed the Gratiot Young Professionals Leadership Workshop and continue to attend monthly gatherings to promote its value. Emily Rayburn, 31

Leadership: Emily Rayburn is the Program Director for the Gratiot County Substance and Suicide Prevention Program of Child Advocacy. With a strong focus on community well-being, Emily has been a driving force in implementing innovative solutions. She developed and currently facilitates the monthly Survivors of Suicide Support Group, providing essential support and healing to those affected by loss.
Under her leadership, the program successfully launched two Narcan vending machines, making life-saving medication readily available for free. Emily also coordinates GCSSPP’s Coalition, fostering collaboration among local stakeholders to address critical issues. Emily is also involved in countless other community organizations and initiatives. Beyond her professional endeavors, Emily is a mother to two energetic toddlers, Spencer and Gracelyn. She enjoys watching MSU Sports with her husband, Jon, and enjoys spending quality time at the lake. Through her work and personal life, Emily exemplifies a profound commitment to supporting her community and nurturing connections.

Leadership: I have demonstrated exceptional leadership by driving initiatives that strengthen my community. As Director of Hospitality and Stewardship at Alma College, I built the Hospitality Program from the ground up. Currently, I serve as the Family Resource Coordinator at Child Advocacy and General Manager of the 3one3 Boutique Hotel, overseeing programs that provide critical resources to families, including the Baby Pantry and parent education classes. I co-chair the Gratiot Young Professionals Network and led the inaugural Gratiot Brews and Bites, a key fundraiser for GYPN and the Gratiot Chamber of Commerce. I played an integral role in the planning and execution of the Leadership Development Workshop, graduating in the first cohort, and I continue to serve as a co-facilitator. Additionally, I am a board member of the Great Start Collaborative and an active member of the Alma Elementary PTO. My leadership focuses on empowering families and fostering community growth.
Fun Fact: My husband and I enjoy supporting our five children in their various sports and activities, which keeps us very busy. We also love taking family vacations and camping throughout the summer, creating lasting memories together.

Leadership: I am honored to be recognized alongside so many great leaders. As a Manager at Yeo &; Yeo, I enjoy helping clients navigate complex accounting challenges while mentoring the next generation of
professionals. I help organize Yeo & Yeo’s annual Summer Leadership Program. I also serve on the
MICPA Governmental Accounting and Auditing Expert Panel, supporting finance officers across the
State. I am passionate about giving back to the community. I currently serve on the board of the Yeo & Yeo Foundation, and I am a member of the Gratiot County Community Foundation Grant Committee. In
2023, I organized a firm-wide service project supporting the Michigan Special Olympics, raising more than $12,000 to support the cause. I’ve volunteered with Central Michigan Youth for Christ for more than seven years and earned the “Whatever It Takes” award for going above and beyond in service to the organization.

Leadership: My leadership within our communities is rooted in my passion for serving others as a role model and an advocate. My position as the Community Health Supervisor at MyMichigan Health for Gratiot, Isabella and Clare Counties has provided me several opportunities to serve my community through collaboration with local organizations and committees. I joined groups such as the Gratiot Young Professional Network, which allowed me to complete the Gratiot Leadership Development Workshop. As a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and youth coach (when time allows!) I am a resource and advocate for children and families to ensure their safety and well-being. I am passionate about the communities I serve, and I believe there is great value in collaboration. As a result, I am proud to be a part of the many efforts which are dedicated to improving the lives of others within our communities and providing resources which allow people to thrive.

Allison Arnekrans, 38
Professor in the Master of Arts in Counseling at Central Michigan University & Owner of Assist & Accelerate Counseling and Consulting
Leadership: As a transplant to this area, my husband and I have worked hard to invest here- right in Mid-Michigan- to raise our family and engage in the community. My full-time role at CMU in the Counseling Program has allowed me to collaborate with multiple organizations and area practices to promote mental health and wellness, as well as learn about the various resources available to those in our community! I truly enjoy getting out of the office and making these important connections! It has also been a pleasure to serve as a Board Member for Ten16 Recovery Network for the past years, which is a regional provider for addiction treatment and recovery services. Outside of the professional sphere, we have an active soccer loving family and I volunteer my time to support Mt. Pleasant Soccer Club. Having a presence in my children's schools as well as our neighborhood association have also been points of pride!

Leadership: As the Director of Admissions at Mid, I am passionate about helping people and solving problems in ways that create meaningful opportunities for students. Every day, I work to make higher education accessible to individuals in our community. Through my role at Mid, I have streamlined admissions procedures, reduced student barriers, and spearheaded initiatives to boost enrollment. However, what drives me most is the ability to empower students. My latest endeavor is launching a program called WAVE with my colleague, Lindsay Golden. WAVE is an outreach program focused on helping high school students navigate their next steps. Through career and academic exploration, self-assessment, goal setting, and step-by-step support, WAVE empowers students to approach their next chapter with purpose, confidence, and possibility. We're very excited to be piloting this program with Evart high school, and have plans to scale it to the rest of our communities. We've only just begun, but we're already seeing an impact! I'm also excited about being involved in initiatives that reengage stop-out students to come back and finish their degrees, connect employers to opportunities to provide free or reduced tuition to their employees, and help adult students make steps toward a brighter future.
Fun Fact: I'm an audiobook junkie! I've listened to 75 (and counting) audiobooks this year.

Leadership: As an Academic Advisor at Central Michigan University, I am privileged to learn about my students' dreams and provide guidance to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. For the past six years, I've been a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), where I provide mentorship and support to my Little Sister as she navigates school and explores career options. I recently joined the BBBS Board of Directors, where I’ve focused on recruiting volunteers for the Lunchbox Learners program. This program pairs Bigs with local elementary students to improve their reading skills. A highlight of my work was receiving the 2023 Live United Award from the United Way for my contributions to BBBS.

Leadership: As the Executive Director at MPDM, I have engaged in numerous leadership opportunities centered on community service. My commitment extends through volunteer roles on the CMU Alumni Board, Kiwanis Club, The Care Store, and as president of the Young Professionals Network. My focus is on enhancing the lives of children and families. I have brought new exhibits and educational opportunities to the museum for families to explore. I also aim to advance literacy initiatives as a member of the CMU Literacy Center Advisory Board and by organizing a book drive and free book fair for Isabella County this December. Additionally, I prioritize my own leadership development, having graduated from the Leadership Learning Lab and receiving a scholarship to attend the Association of Children’s Museums conference.

Leadership: Since 2021 I’ve been a part of the Mt. Pleasant Jaycees, a service group for young professionals in the area who share a passion for giving back to the local community, and in 2024 I was lucky enough to become President! I also serve on the Adopt-a-Family and Mt. Pleasant Craft Beer Festival (MPCBF) Committees, and more recently, helped with marketing for Community Cancer Services of Isabella County’s ‘Into the Light’ Walk. Last winter, Adopt-a-Family provided gifts for over 35 families in Isabella County, and over the summer, the MPCBF raised $40,405! It brings me great joy knowing this money will be donated back to local nonprofits and service groups through the Jaycees’ Fall and Spring Gives. I've also been able to partake in volunteer opportunities through the Jaycees, including serving dinner for the ICRH, or sorting clothing at Clothing, Inc. I’m very thankful to be involved in such impactful organizations that help drive positive change in the Mt. Pleasant area.
Fun Fact: I am currently training for my first half marathon that is coming up at the end of October!
Proud Moment: Near the end of 2021, shortly after starting my position at the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, I joined the Mt. Pleasant Jaycees as a general member. The Jaycees is a group of young professionals in the area looking to network and become more involved in the community. After a year of general membership I became VP and then took over as President for 2024!

Leadership: Christian is passionate about the community he has grown up in & grown his business in. He runs his business in a way that supports this community and helps bring up other local businesses and organizations. He takes each project seriously and personally, and always strives to present his clients in the best light. Christian has partnered with many groups and organizations to improve and invest in Mid Michigan. From organizations such as Kids Hope, Life Choices of Central Michigan, and Central Michigan Youth for Christ, to events such as Mt. Pleasant Craft Beer Festival, Community Church Vacation Bible School, CMU's Sibs & Kids Weekend, and beyond, Christian recognizes the value of telling stories. He is a leader in multimedia production and uses his talents to give back to the town that raised him. In addition to producing top-tier multimedia, Christian also chooses to dedicate time, equipment, and resources back to the Gratiot Isabella CTE program - the place that taught him everything he knows and first ignited his passion for multimedia production. Christian spends time speaking to classes about his experiences, and has mentored many youth through the CTE program to invest in the next generation.

Leadership: My leadership in the community has been significantly shaped by my role at United Way, where I serve as Resource Development Manager. I generate revenue, implement resources, and manage workplace campaigns to address our community's most critical needs. Supporting the community through United Way has allowed me to foster collaboration among local organizations and ensure vital services and resources are available to those in need. Additionally, as the Membership VP on the Mt. Pleasant Jaycees board, I’ve connected young professionals in our community who are passionate about making an impact through volunteerism and networking, while also providing grants to local nonprofits, community agencies, and schools. I also serve on the Craft Beer Festival committee and am a member of the Alma-St. Louis Rotary Club and the Gratiot Young Professionals Network. Through my role at United Way and the various clubs and groups I strive to inspire others and create meaningful change in our community.

Leadership: In my role at the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute significantly to Isabella County. I actively promote local businesses, attractions, and events to visitors and residents and am involved in various community organizations and events. As a member and co-chair of Zonta Club’s annual Applefest Fundraiser this year, I helped raise funds for local scholarships and initiatives that empower women and girls. Additionally, my participation in the Young Professionals Network and other community events like Special Olympics Michigan and the Mt. Pleasant Craft Beer Festival has provided me with valuable opportunities to network, collaborate, and make a positive impact.

Proud Moment: Within the past year, I have grown immensely as a leader. I have been promoted at the MPACVB, spoke as a panelist at the Mt. Leadership: I started the gym when I was 21 years old and in these 6 years I have been able to help so many kids in our community face fears, be confident, and gain a second family with MPGA. Gymnastics is my passion and I am so fortunate to be in the position where I can give out tons of free gymnastics and bring opportunities to our community like competitive gymnastics. I also make sure to give back by adopting families around the holidays, scholarships, coaching tumbling at local schools, and I have spoken a few times at Central Michigan University. With Mini City it has been a joy watching kids enjoy what we have created. The level of imagination there is amazing and I’m so happy that everyone is enjoying it so far!
Fun Fact: When watching college gymnastics you would think I was watching the Super Bowl how loud I cheer and how emotional I get. It’s my favorite sport and I love everything about it. We’re taking the team girls to see Simone Biles in November and I don’t know who is more excited, me or them.

Leadership: Through my position at Isabella Bank, I support the community through our financial literacy programs and initiatives; helping customers achieve their financial goals by understanding their needs and introducing appropriate products and services and being a strong resource. My time as Rotary Club President I was able to make strong connections with local nonprofits where we partnered in fundraising and supported their events. We worked closely with COA, Child Advocacy, and the public school to help make an impact through volunteerism, financial support, maintenance efforts, paying off past due school lunch balances and getting seniors handicap accessible equipment for their homes. The efforts of the Mount Pleasant Rotary with their partnerships and advocacy with local nonprofits, and innovative ways to connect all ages with accessible fun at our local parks is an inspiring thing to be a part of. I’ve been actively involved with the Mt. Pleasant Jaycees Chapter for eight years, serving in leadership roles for seven, including two years as President. My efforts have helped strengthen community ties and expanded our organization’s impact. Additionally, I’ve served as the Mt. Pleasant Craft Beer Festival Liaison for six years, co-chairing the event since 2019 and helping raise over $250,000 with a team of talented colleagues. Leadership: As Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement at CMU, I foster lasting connections within the university community. Community Health Supervisor, Central Michigan District Health Department
Leadership: I get the privilege of leading a team who supports those living with substance use disorder and helps stop the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C in the Central Michigan community. We've significantly increased the amount of harm reduction programming in our area in the last year. I've been heavily involved in community needs assessments to help identify health disparities in our region. I've also chaired the Isabella Substance Awareness Coalition and am the new chair of the Clare Gladwin Prevention Coalition who aims to reduce harmful substance use issues and stigma related to drug use within our communities.

Leadership: As a mid-Michigan native, the Mt Pleasant community is incredibly important to me. I believe the more you put in the more you get out! Earlier this year I joined the Mt Pleasant Jaycees where I learned about different non-profit organizations and the various resources they provide. As an ambassador for the Mt Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce, I am strengthening connections and promoting local businesses. Most recently, I joined the Mt Pleasant Rotary Club, where I am excited to expand my community involvement through projects, committees, and volunteer opportunities. In addition to my personal involvement, I encourage my coworkers and family members to participate in community events. There are always opportunities to get involved! Within my role as Community Engagement Manager at SERVPRO, I am currently working on planning and organizing the First Responder 5K to raise funds for the Isabella County First Responders Fund. Leadership: I have worked at Michigan Works! West Central for the past five years. I began my career as a Talent Specialist in Mecosta County. Soon after I had the opportunity to work with a special grant that assisted people in obtaining a post-secondary grant. During the course of the grant, I worked with the team to assist people with accessing education. We were able to successfully train 180 people and offered support services to enable their participation in training. Upon completion of the grant, I was offered a promotion as WIOA assistant manager. I now get to help people learn more about training opportunities available to them and coach new staff.

Leadership: I am the mother of 5 wonderful children, and am very involved in the community. I sit as the president of the Athletic boosters for the Reed City High School. We fundraise and provide assets to all the sports programs. I also donate time and provide team meals before events and at tournaments. I donate time and funds to Band boosters, Angel tree, and the Reed City Christmas Miracles (founded by Heidi Thomas).
