Mid Michigan College has announced its latest round of professional development courses. Each course intends to either introduce career options to members of the community or further the careers of established workers.
Each takes place at the Morey Technical Education Center at the Mid Michigan College campus in Mt. Pleasant.
Beginning Friday, Nov. 9, Mid kicks off its introductory welding training course. Teaching students the basics of welding in just over a month, Welding Short-Term Training is a 120-hour program that combines classroom lessons with hands-on experiences to teach the fundamentals of welding, from safety practices to blueprint and symbol reading to basic MIG welding. (Nov. 9 through Dec. 19, 2018 | 5 to 9 p.m. | $1,600)
Two drone courses are scheduled this fall and early winter.
First, it’s Drone Remote Pilot Knowledge Test. This one-day course prepares students for their Federal Aviation Administration remote pilot certification test, a requirement for operating a drone for any commercial or business purpose. (Nov. 10, 2018 | 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | $495)
Second, it’s the Intro to Drones for Public Safety Personnel course. The course teaches the usage of drones and its benefits to public safety personnel. (Nov. 26 and 27 and Dec. 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2018 | 4 to 8 p.m. | $1,980)
Learn the basics of project management at the Project Management Training workshop and then learn how to become professionally certified.
The Project Management Training workshop teaches the project management process and provides the tools for success. (Jan. 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2019 | 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. | $1,500)
Once students learn the ins and outs of project management, they can take the Project Management Professional Certification preparation course for the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional Examination. (March 5, 19, 26 and April 2, 16, 2019 | 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. | $1,500)
