Home decor and accessories shop opens its doors in downtown Mt. Pleasant

A home décor and accessories furnishing shop has opened in downtown Mt. Pleasant.

And though its waiting until September to celebrate its grand opening, Shutters & Chandeliers has officially opened and has commenced regular business hours.

Owner Liz Walters’s items tend to fall into a variety of rustic, European, and country farmhouse themes. She sells a range of products, including wall hangings and other decorative furniture, hand creams, candles, and more.

Walters is also a decorative floral designer and offers custom artificial flower work.

"My inspiration for the shop was traveling throughout the years to different places and countries, seeing cultures and the differences and similarities between different parts of the world and the United States," Walters says.

"I want to try and incorporate those things here in Mt. Pleasant."

When looking to open Shutters & Chandeliers, Walters knew that she wanted to open in downtown Mt. Pleasant. She looked in Clare, she looked in Alma, but she always hoped that she’d find the right place in Mt. Pleasant.

Walters believes she has, too. Shutters & Chandeliers takes over the old Basketree storefront downtown. She says she’s received a lot of compliments on her remodeling job, too.

"This is my old stomping grounds. It’s good to be around the businesses and the people again," Walters says. "Downtown Mt. Pleasant has so much potential for businesses, and especially with so many events in the summer.

"This downtown atmosphere is right for my business."

Shutters & Chandeliers is located at 112 E. Broadway St. in downtown Mt. Pleasant.
