An innovative approach to pain management and patient care has made
The Spine Center in
East Lansing into a constantly growing practice. The Spine Center recently added five clinical staff, two clerical staff and one medical biller to bring their total number of employees to 61; a long way from the four therapists that began with the clinic's inception in 2007.
“We are a comprehensive facility,” says Shelly Hickey, Clinical Manager for The Spine Center. “We have physiatrists, we specialize in rehabilitation, and we also have acupuncture, massage, and pain psychology. We have an all-body approach, so we can pull all these tools together to help people.”
The Spine Center renovated a 4,124-square foot storage space into a procedure area. This allows the Spine Center to treat more patients and accommodate new staff members.
According to Hickey, the key to The Spine Center’s growth has been the success of their patients, citing clients who drive from well outside the Greater Lansing area several times a week for treatment due to the positive results they receive there.
“Our patients do quite well here,” she says. “It’s one-stop-shopping. We’re so integrated that the patients have great outcomes.”
