The Black Rose opens in 900 sq ft Downtown Lansing location

There couldn’t be a more appropriate time for a new, authentic Irish Pub to open its doors in Downtown Lansing. The owners of Troppo, Edmund’s Pastime and Tavern on the Square have opened their newest downtown location, The Black Rose just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

“If you think of what an Irish pub should be, that’s what it is,” says Jason Keusch, executive chef and partner in the restaurant group that owns The Black Rose. “It’s a friendly, laid back, easy place to hang out.”

The Black Rose fills the 900 square foot space next to Edmunds Pastime on 101 S. Washington Square. Keusch and his partners renovated the pub with the Dublin-made interior of the original establishment in Grand Rapids.

“It was a blank slate,” says Keusch. “We left it clean and we built it out with what we had from The Black Rose in Grand Rapids. It’s small, it’s cozy, and it’s very communal.”

The Black Rose opened for business last week and will celebrate with a full day of fun, spirits and live music this Saturday for St. Patrick’s Day. The new bar will employ approximately 12 employees, and will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
