Sparrow to invest $3.2M in Arialink Heathcare ONE network

From lowering waiting time on test results to speeding up the check-in process, a new, $3.2 million network created by Arialink is about to make life easier on the patients of Sparrow Hospital. Healthcare ONE is a high-speed broadband fiber optic network to enhance transfer of high-definition images and real-time electronic medical records.

Work on the network, which will span about 100 miles and connect to Sparrow Clinton Hospital in St. Johns, Sparrow Ionia Hospital and physician practices, will begin in the spring of 2012 and is expected to be complete in the fall of 2013.

“Healthcare ONE is designed to enable interconnectivity among all healthcare facilities,” said Jason Schreiber, Arialink President and CEO.  “This will in turn, leverage each other’s resources to enhance the care and services they provide to each individual patient.”

This means downloading MRI images could go from being a half-hour task to complete in seconds. Additionally, electronic patient records will mean that after checking in at one hospital, a patient can skip filling out information for a second time at another hospital.

Healthcare Providers that currently have access to Arialink’s Healthcare ONE system include MSU Radiology, Hayes Green Beach, Genesis Surgery Center and Genesis Diagnostics. In addition to the private fiber optic network for Sparrow Health Systems, Arialink will also begin building one for the Owosso-based Memorial Healthcare Center this year.
