Have you ever seen a cool logo or website designed by
Redhead Design Studio in Old Town and think, “I wish I could buy that?”
Now is your chance. With the recent launch of their new online retail store,
Ginger, shoppers can now own piece of the unique designs of the Redhead Studio designers in the form of a notecard, t-shirt and more.
“Every design or concept that sees the light of day spurs a dozen other thoughts just waiting to develop,” says Jessy Harger of Redhead Design Studio. “Often, we run across a color palette, or a doodle in the sketchbook, or a bit of typography that we'd like to try out someplace. This is our new ‘someplace.’”
Ginger launched in November of 2011 and features the designs of Redhead employees on products that are made locally. You can see the different design styles from different Redhead employees. The retail outlet as an extension of a design studio isn’t unusual on a national scale, but it may be the first of its kind in Lansing.
“It's a logical outlet for folks with lots of ideas and who know how to market and promote product,” says Harger. “Many local artists and designers produce things independently, and lots of creative shops hand out one-offs, but we haven't seen a bona-fided launch of a retail store or website in town.”
Redhead will soon hire an intern to help manage the new retail site.
