It's a tough call. This weekend, you have two great chances to have fun, meet great people and build your community.
You can join Capital region
AmeriCorps members for a day of volunteer service during the "
Step Up Lansing: Get Things Done for Our Community" event on Saturday, working right alongside AmeriCorps members on a range of small service projects around the region. Opportunities range from park clean-ups to serving meals, landscaping to recycling.
It's also a great chance to learn about AmeriCorps and its many programs in the area. Check out the website for more details:
www.stepuplansing.orgOr, if you're in the mood for something a bit more medieval, check out
Trebuchet Day, where teams of students will test their homemade, eight-foot tall trebuchets by launching water filled milk jugs at several targets in the field behind the Marshall Street Armory in Lansing.
Trebuchet Day was developed by
MSU,
Impression 5,
YSG Lansing and
Linking Lansing & U. Check it out on
Facebook.
