The Capital region has an abundance of urban gardens. Backyard gardens (think greens and chickens) are also gaining in popularity. Plans are also being developed to create an urban farm in the flood plain on Lansing’s Eastside.
Nailing down the Capital region’s urban farming and gardening experts is
a bit of a challenge in April when they’re giving workshops and
prepping for a green, nutritious summer.
But this is a great time of year to talk about urban farming and urban gardening.
What does it mean? How is it evolving? What impact will it have on the region and the health of area residents?
We’re pleased to invite you to our urban farming/urban gardening Speaker Series event on Tuesday, April 27 at
Perspective 2 Studio in Old Town.
Perspective 2 is located at 319 E. Grand River Ave. and parking can be found along the side streets.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The speakers will present from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. with Q & A and networking to follow.
Pop, water, beer and wine will be provided.

- Linda Anderson, horticultural consultant for the Eastside and Southside
- Anne Raucher, Garden Project director
- Joy Baldwin, food project director of the NorthWest Initiative
