The
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Ingham County celebrated the grand opening of their new location in Williamston last week. The 12,680 square foot location on E. Grand River Ave. adds about 2,000 square feet to the organization's office space and comes in concert with expanded business hours for the ReStore.
"We just want to be open to the public more," says Executive Director Racheal Sanford. "I didn’t see any reason why we couldn’t be open on Monday, and business has really picked up."
In addition to being open on Mondays, ReStore, which sells and accepts donations of new and used building materials and household items is now open an hour earlier as well, beginning at 9 a.m. The ReStore has also ramped up its electronics recycling program and now sells new mattresses.
"People can bring their old electronics and we recycle it with a company who pays us," says Sanford. "It’s a nice way for people to donate and be involved if they can’t financially give."
The new ReStore and headquarters of Habitat of Humanity of Greater Ingham County opened in July. With the new hours, the organization added one new position, bringing their staff to two full- and three part-time employees.
