Polka music benefits a softball team and Good Samaritan Rescue Mission

What do polka music, the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, and a softball team have in common? They’re all part of a “Polka with the Beets” benefit set for Sat., March 8 at One Moose Lodge 82.

Graphic courtesy of Seth DrzewickiThe Steve Drzewicki Band is the featured performer during the benefit concert, held at 2218 Midland Road in Saginaw. The event also includes Polish and German foods served from 3 to 6 p.m. The band performs from 3 to 7 p.m. Doors open at 2 p.m.

During the event, donations will be collected for the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. Guests who bring personal hygiene products or non-perishable foods will be entered into a drawing.

The event also celebrates 25 years of Seth Drzewicki on the WSAM Polka Show. The show is heard on WSAM 1400 AM and 92.3 FM from 10 a.m. to noon on Sundays.

The Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, located at 713 Ninth St., provides emergency shelter services for homeless men, women and children, intact families, and veterans.

Money raised goes to the Sugar Beets Softball Team for kids 12 and under.

Admission is $10 per person (kids under 12 are free).
