Take a break from the winter without a long drive or plane ride during the
Family Winter Fun Fest on Sat., Feb. 22.
The annual event, coordinated by the
Bay-Arenac Great Start Collaborative, takes place in the Center Court at the Bay City Town Center, 3101 E. Wilder Road. It includes family activities, entertainment, a kids zone, free food, and a sensory room.
The free event is open to all families with children from pregnancy to third grade.
Families are invited to download the
free Goosechase app before the festival, which lets them into a virtual scavenger hunt.
It's not the only winter activity designed for families. A full calendar of events is available
here.
The Great Start Collaborative seeks to make the most of the 2,000 days between birth and the first day of kindergarten, according to the organization's website.
"During this period, 85% of a child’s brain is formed. Brain research has shown us how nutrition, nurturing, and early learning experiences literally shape the brain during this critical growth period. Investing in early childhood pays for itself seven-fold by reducing poverty, violent crime, the need for special education and reducing high-school drop-out rates," the website states.
The Bay-Arenac Great Start Collaborative seeks to create a coordinated system of community resources and support for Bay and Arenac county families.
