Shinabarger-Howe new therapist for DeLano Clinic

Brenda Shinabarger-Howe has joined DeLano Outpatient Clinic as its newest therapist. 
 
She has more than 14 years of experience as a licensed professional counselor working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing trauma in their lives. 
 
Shinabarger-Howe comes to Borgess from the Crisis Care Network in Grand Rapids. There she was a crisis response specialist. She has worked in numerous clinics and counseling centers, and was a contractual mental health clinician position with DeLano Clinic from May 2003 to May 2006. 
 
Shinabarger-Howe has a professional affiliation with the Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association, and is certified as a National Certified Counselor and as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a member of the Kalamazoo County Critical Incident Response Team, and has logged over 400 hours as a crisis line volunteer. 
 
Shinabarger-Howe received a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology in 1998 from Western Michigan University. She also earned a Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, degree in Human Services from Nazareth College in Kalamazoo. 
 
Her areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, domestic violence, addictions, parenting, adjustment disorders, post-partum depression and chronic illness. Her treats clients using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Psychoeducational, Client-Centered, Play Therapy, and Critical Incident Stress Management.
 
Shinabarger-Howe, MA, LPC, NCC, joins a team of behavioral health professionals with a broad range of expertise in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, and nursing.
