Marshall businessman sells ice cream from carriage

Brian Mason, owner of Marshall Carriage Co., wanted to sell ice cream from a horse-drawn carriage. When he couldn’t find one for sale he decided to have one built, reports the Battle Creek Enquirer.

Excerpt:

“I found maybe a half-dozen pictures of antique ones that existed a hundred years ago, but one that exists today — no,” Mason said proudly from his shop on Michigan Avenue. The ice cream feature is his one-year-old company’s newest venture, but not its final foray into unusual entertainment, Mason said. The company offers carriage ride tours of Marshall’s National Historic Landmark District and ghost-themed night tours of the city in which real local haunting tales are shared. Mason sells ice cream and candy out of his shop, and soon will be opening a small haunted house in the back of the shop, he said.
