Small businesses get just the facts at upcoming session on start ups

Small business owners or those interested in starting one up are invited to find out what it takes.

The Bridgman-Lake Township Economic Growth Alliance is hosting a small business orientation session featuring expert advice on a wide range of business topics at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at Bridgman’s Weko Beachhouse on Lake Michigan’s Weko Beach.

Representatives of Small Business Services at Cornerstone Alliance will answer questions about starting and operating a small business. They will address questions like: Are there grants for my business? Should I apply for a loan? Do I have to do a business plan? Information will be offered on micro loan programs, how to get business planning assistance, and services provided by the  Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance.

There is a $15 fee. Some admission scholarships are available.

With a good business plan and tapping into available resources business owners can succeed, an EGA official says.

“Starting or growing the operations of small businesses present many challenges, but people just like you succeed every day,” says Dan Buckenmeyer, EGA Director of Economic Development.

The Economic Growth Alliance (EGA) is a partnership of the City of Bridgman, Lake Charter Township, the Bridgman Area Chamber and local business leaders. It  is a joint economic development effort focused on retaining and attracting business to the community.
