“I enjoy what I do and the peace it brings to the families,” says Dr. Jeanette Roberts. “People's gratitude towards me absolutely fills my bucket.”
Whether they are man's best friend or any other animal, it can be extremely painful to say goodbye to a pet.
Dr. Jeanette Roberts of Robert's Veterinary Services.Helping during these difficult transitions, local veterinarian Dr. Jeanette Roberts created an in-home pet euthanasia service for individuals who want to have a more familiar setting for their pet's transition. Out of her love for science, animals, and people, Roberts decided that veterinarian work was her calling.
“I’m a natural healer, but I didn't decide to be a vet until my senior year in high school,” she says. “I was really attracted to the broad range of options you have as a veterinarian. If you get tired of doing one job you can move into a different field and still be considered a vet.”
After graduating from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Roberts began her career as a veterinarian in 2003. She came to Port Huron in 2005 and eventually decided to move into the specialization of in-home euthanasia, founding
Robert's Veterinary Services (RVS) in 2021.
“I enjoy what I do and the peace it brings to the families,” she says. “People's gratitude towards me absolutely fills my bucket.”
Roberts does not offer regular services related to pet health, only those related to the euthanasia process which could include cremation and transportation. Some of the areas she provides services for include St. Clair County, Macomb, Lapeer, Sanilac, and Oakland counties.
“It’s a needed service, and with some of the areas I serve, I’m the only person that will come to their home to give them that ease and comfort,” Roberts says.
