What’s happening: A partnership several years running has inspired the latest release from one of Michigan’s most celebrated breweries, the result of a statewide tourism campaign that leverages Michigan’s reputation as a top-tier state for finding locally-brewed beer.
The 2025 entry in the Short’s Brewing x Pure Michigan series: Pure Michigan Hazy IPA.
What it is: Short’s Brewing Company has released their latest entry in their Short’s Brewing x Pure Michigan series, a new Hazy IPA that utilizes Michigan-grown ingredients in its one-of-a-kind recipe. It’s the latest in a series first launched in 2019, designed by Pure Michigan to celebrate and highlight the growers and breweries that contribute to Michigan’s national reputation as “The Great Beer State.”
How it tastes: The Pure Michigan Hazy IPA represents the hazy weather forecasts of springtime in Michigan, where the distinction between winter, spring, and summer blurs depending on the time of day. The brewery describes its latest Hazy IPA as “robust and delightful with grassy, dank, citrus aromas and a hint of caramel and baked bread-biscuity goodness.”
Michigan made: The latest from Short’s Brewing is made with Michigan ingredients, including Cascade, Cashmere, and Bergamot hops from Hop Alliance and Pale Ale Malt, Malted Oats, and White Wheat from Great Lakes Malting. Frequent collaborator Tanya Whitley created its Michigan-centric artwork for the label.
What it does: “Spring is a season of awakening, and an opportunity to explore the beauty of Michigan in springtime by connecting with the great outdoors and unique city experiences,” says Kelly Wolgamott, vice president of Pure Michigan. “With all Michigan-sourced ingredients and packaging that embraces the changing of the season and warmer, longer days ahead, Short’s Pure Michigan Hazy is a great way to celebrate after a spring adventure in Pure Michigan.”
How to find it: The
Short's Brewing Pure Michigan Hazy IPA, as it’s called, will be available from April to June at the brewery’s locations in Bellaire and Elk Rapids as well as participating party stores in Michigan and Indiana.
