What’s happening: It was less than a year ago when we shared the news that a historic but vacant building in downtown Marshall would soon be repurposed as a multi-use event space. The developer’s prediction of an early-2025 opening has since proven correct as Venue 19 Zero 9 is ready for business; an open house is scheduled for the public from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20.
What it is: Venue 19 Zero 9 is a multi-use event space that features a large room that accommodates 300 seated guests, intimate soft-seating area, two changing quarters, and three boutique hotel rooms. Exclusive catering is provided by nearby
Schuler’s Restaurant.
Backstory: Former Schuler’s employee Sue Damron acquired the historic Schuler’s Restaurant in 2019, a mere 110 years since the restaurant’s founding in downtown Marshall. Damron led a Schuler’s redevelopment that added seven mixed-income residential units in the former hotel space within the building, in addition to ongoing renovations to the restaurant itself. Venue 19 Zero 9 is so named for the year Schuler’s first opened, and Damron considers it a natural extension of the progress being made by her and others in downtown Marshall.
Where it’s going: Damron has repurposed an 1880s-era building to open her event venue. The building at 112 N. Eagle St. in downtown Marshall had been vacant since Dreamers Furniture closed up shop here in 2008.
What they’re saying: “We can’t wait to share this newly renovated space with our community and guests,” says Sue Damron, president and CEO of Venue 19 Zero 9 and Schuler’s. “Over the years, we’ve been committed to expanding and enhancing the hospitality experience here in Marshall. The addition of Venue 19 Zero 9 gives us another unique space to create memorable events complete with catering and planning services.”
Venue 19 Zero 9 is located at 112 N. Eagle St. in downtown Marshall.
