What’s happening: Saugatuck Brewing Co. and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources have launched a unique partnership that features beer, trout, and wildlife habitat restoration efforts. For every Rainbow Rodeo IPA sold from May to October, Saugatuck Brewing Co. (SBC) will make a donation to the DNR’s habitat restoration efforts.
What’s planned: With the tagline “Craft beer for clear streams” and scheduled for Michigan’s trout fishing season this spring and summer, the partnership will raise funds for habitat restoration work at fishing destinations throughout the state. That work includes battling invasive species and fostering the growth of fish populations by restoring natural streams and wetlands, removing defunct dams, and more.
Why it’s important: "I firmly believe that by working together, we can preserve and protect Michigan's natural treasures for generations to come,” says Scott Bowen, Director of the Michigan DNR. "This work isn't just a job; it's a responsibility we owe to our children and grandchildren. Every action we take today shapes the future of our environment, the outdoor-based recreation Michigan is known for, and the places we love."
How to participate: Purchase Saugatuck Brewing’s Rainbow Rodeo IPA to donate now through September 30;
visit SBC online to find the nearest case of the American-style IPA in stores. A website specific to the program is also accepting public donations in lieu of beer sales
online.
What they’re saying: “We are beyond excited about joining the DNR in finding new ways to help solve old problems,” says Saugatuck Brewing Company CEO John Miller. “As a ‘lifestyle brand’ focusing attention and resources to help participate in projects like this is at the center of our values and a perfect fit for the brand Rainbow Rodeo to lead.”
