Newsweek names Portage Northern High one of top 500

Portage Northern High School has again made Newsweek Magazine’s list of top 500 public high schools.

The magazine judged schools on: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP tests taken per graduate (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/ scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered (5 percent).

Sixteen public schools from Michigan made the 2011 list. Portage Northern ranked 471 of 500.
