In 2019, John Hébert was hired as Assistant Professor of Jazz Bass at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He continues to teach and tour the Globe. He will be at the jazz festival in Edison this fall.

Jazz pianists will be getting their own Gilmore award with an $8 million endowment from Larry Bell

The first Larry J. Bell Jazz Artist will be selected in 2026. The award is similar to the Gilmore Artist Award, where jurors hunt for the classical pianists whose talent deserves a boost. An anonymous committee will choose the jazz recipient every four years.

Battle Creek residents sign up for Ring Doorbell system in hopes of deterring neighborhood crime

Damon Brown says he is continuing to identify funding source for the Ring doobell systems. The total bill is $107,194 for 600 of the Ring doorbell systems. Ring is offering a discount of $21,598 for Battle Creek.
