Benton Harbor could benefit in new governor’s plan for MEDC
Gov. Rick Snyder’s urban economic development team at the Michigan Economic Development Corp. is working to bolster businesses in the state’s cities, focusing primarily on Detroit, Saginaw, Flint, Highland Park and Benton Harbor, reports Crain’s Detroit Business.
The state is looking for ways to help existing business grow and expand, said Donald Snider, vice president of urban economic development at the MEDC. Snider said the MEDC is meeting with banks to look into creating more lending flexibility.

Snider said the state continues to work on providing an alternative to the historic preservation and brownfield tax credits, which Snyder’s proposed budget would eliminate.
