Manatron, Inc., has added to its list of global clients by providing property tax and records management software for the City of Capetown, South Africa.

Cape Town is using the company’s GRM customCAMA software to assist with the process of assessing property value. The city’s appraisal staff, 150 employees in four different departments, worked with a Manatron team to put the software in place. The project, begun in late 2008, was the city’s first partnership with a government software provider.

The software’s intuitive design helps remove security risks, and incorporates key performance indicators, says Christopher Gavor, director of valuation for the City of Cape Town.

“We are proud to be the most technically advanced jurisdiction in Africa when it comes to IT infrastructure, and we continue this tradition through the adoption of this highly functional, user-friendly software,” Gavor says.

Manatron won the contract after demonstrating its knowledge of South African Property Rates Act, how to create compatible IT infrastructure and that it had consistent goals with the City of Cape Town.

The City of Cape Town serves approximately 4 million people and its government offices are responsible for the assessment of more than 800,000 parcels of property.  During the software installation process, the city also performed a jurisdiction-wide revaluation of each of these pieces of properties.

“Working with the Cape Town staff has been a rewarding experience that will ultimately make Manatron a stronger software provider,” says Ruel Williamson, Manatron vice president for corporate strategy.

The Portage-based Manatron provides integrated property tax and records management software for state and local governments and has multiple international accounts, including Canada, Trinidad and Tobago and the U.S. Virgin Islands and plans to continue to develop its client base growth outside of the United States.
