Relocation means expansion for Lark’s & Sons Bar-B-Que

Lark’s & Sons Bar-B-Que and car wash is on the move and that means four to eight new jobs are being added.

Willie Lark and his wife Marilyn have renovated the building at 174 W. Main Street in downtown Benton Harbor.

Lark says they have been looking for some time for ways to grow the business that is now in its 16th year. The space on West Main Street provides more space to grow. They purchased the building from Cornerstone Alliance.

The new building will allow Lark’s to offer indoor and outdoor dining and a take-out area. There is pace for the company’s car wash and detailing service as well.

What’s not changing is the menu. “We will be offering the same menu that customers have grown to love as well as new items thanks to the expansion,” says Lark. “We also plan to offer retail items including Lark’s Bar-B-Que sauce and future products.”

Lark’s is known for its barbecued ribs, seafood, polish dogs, barbecued and jerk chicken, and a variety of side orders.

A team of design engineers from Whirlpool Corporation who are customers of Lark’s offered to help develop the design and decor for the new building — a look with a Benton Harbor flavor.

Area businessman and close friend Marvin Raglon has been assisting Lark’s with the relocation project says all of the contractors working on this project are local contractors.

“It is truly fulfilling to be a part of the turnaround that is under way in the City of Benton Harbor,” says Raglon.
