Kalamazoo Institute of Arts invites public to holiday art sale

There are some things that make Kalamazoo uniquely Kalamazoo. The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts’ annual Holiday Art Sale is one of those.

This year is the 40th for the sale that will feature art work by more than 150 artists from the KIA school.

Examples of their work–from glass ornaments to metal sculptures and many more types of art–will be on sale. Pottery, jewelry, ornaments, paintings, photography, sculpture, glass, and textiles also are among the art shoppers and art lovers will find at the sale.

In fact, the work will fill walls, tables, bins and stands that will transform the KIA into a bustling marketplace.

The sale is an opportunity for those who would like to give gifts that are unique and also support both local artists and the Kirk Newman Art School.

KIA members will have the opportunity to check it out from 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 6. Live music, wine and soft drinks will be part of the holiday themed evening.

The public can shop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7.
