Bigger fireworks show planned in South Haven

South Haven Mayor Bob Burr is putting an end to the shortened fireworks events over Lake Michigan that have been taking place in recent years, reports the Herald-Palladium.

He wants the 2011 show to be one of the biggest ones yet.

Disappointed with last year’s $13,500 display that started 20 minutes late and then lasted only 10 to 15 minutes, Burr was determined to improve fundraising efforts this year.

“You have to have fireworks. You have no choice,” he said.
