Angela Bouler started her photography career several years ago by taking photos of kids and the occasional pet. She gradually moved away from kids. Now, through her new Westside Lansing business called Slobbery Kisses, she concentrates solely on pets.
“I got addicted and hooked immediately,” she says about changing her photographic focus. “It just started catching on.”
Most of Bouler’s models are dogs, though she occasionally shoots cats. Bouler says business is great, in large part because dogs have become a major part of the family over the last ten years.
“People love it, too,” Bouler says. “In other cities, dog photography is huge. I think this (business) is the sign of the times. You can’t go anywhere without seeing another car that has dogs in it.”
Bouler does on-site shoots, and also uses Perspective2 studio in Old Town when she needs a large indoor studio. Bouler says because she spends so much time on site, her Westside Lansing home office and Perspective2 studio give her ample space.
“The response has been very good,” she says. “I would like to expand and at least have one, maybe two, more people on staff in the next year or so,” she says.
