Herald-Palladium: Re-enacters will assault the beach

At least 400 re-enactors will replay World War II beach invasions at Tiscornia Park in St. Joseph on June 30. Simulated bombing runs by a B-25 and B-17 bomber will precede the assault.

Similar events in 2008 and 2009 attracted huge crowds to the beach. This year’s event should be even more spectacular, Don Alsbro, president of the The Lest We Forget veterans organization told the Herald-Palladium.

Excerpt:

“The flame-thrower demonstration, the pyrotechnics on the beach, the landing of the American flag (by parachute jumper) on the beach, those are all things we didn’t do in the past and we’re going to do this time,” Alsbro said.
