Battle Creek music venues have bright future

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Purely from a music geek’s point of view, Battle Creek is going to be one heck of a place within the next five years, according to the Battle Creek Enquirer.

Entertainment writer Justin A. Hinkley says FireKeeper Casino’s recent announcement that it’s adding a 2,000 seat conference center that also can host music events is a good thing.

Excerpt:

Sometimes, I’m so distressingly optimistic it’s ugly, but I fear not for my Cereal City.

For one, 2,000 seats is far fewer than Kellogg’s 8,000-person capacity. For another, Kellogg Arena tends to attract a different crowd. Disturbed and Korn (coming to Kellogg March 28) are very different bands than the Black Crowes, who played FireKeepers over the summer.

Different crowds, different pots of money.

To find out what else fuels Hinkley’s optimism, please read the rest of the story.
