WMU grad lands songs on film soundtrack

Daniel Myers, a Western Michigan University graduate, has four songs he’s contributed to the soundtrack of the animated feature “Hoodwinked Too.”

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports Myers came to WMU after meeting professor Steve Zegree. Since his graduation in 2000 with a degree in jazz Meyer’s been touring and performing. At the same time he’s always been writing and he wants to make that a focus of his work.

Myers, 33, said even though the reviews for the film haven’t been great, the experience of writing for a major motion picture has been. Through his work for “Hoodwinked Too,” he’s connected with others in the movie music industry and famed Las Vegas performer Wayne Newton, who sings two of his songs on the soundtrack.
