Snap into nature with a smartphone photography workshop

What’s happening: The St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Commission is hosting a Nature Clicks smartphone photography workshop. Learn to take pictures using your phone's camera with Jennifer Catanzaro, a marketing specialist, and professional photographer, and Kirsten Lyons, a park naturalist. This free family-friendly event will explore the park's native flower gardens, trails, and waterways so folks can take scenic pictures.

When: Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 10 am-12 pm.

Where: Goodells County Park at 8264 County Park Dr in Goodells, Michigan. The event will begin at the visitor center.

Why it matters: “Today’s smartphones are incredibly powerful, yet the basics of photography have been the same since this art form and documentation tool was invented in the 1800s,” says Kirsten Lyons, a park naturalist for St. Clair County. “Our staff uses smartphone photography in all of our work caring for our natural areas and in our education and outreach. We will share tips and techniques to help you unleash your creativity and how to use your smartphone to study the natural world. All ages and skill levels are welcome.”

Find out more: Clothing and shoes that can get dirty are recommended for this event. Pre-registration is required by Friday, September 27 and spaces are limited. To register, contact Kirsten Lyons, at klyons@stclaircounty.org or (810) 989-6317.
