Fowler’s Creamery & Coffee to open in St. Clair this spring

After more than two decades of wielding scissors and styling hair in the Blue Water Area, Port Huron Township resident Nicole Fowler is embarking on a sweet new adventure in St. Clair with the soon-to-be-opening Fowler’s Creamery & Coffee.

“My wife and I love St. Clair and we are both in the service industry, caring first and foremost about people,” says her husband Rob Fowler, who works for a software management company in St. Clair. “Serving the local community is what brings us both joy. We intend for this to be a family affair.”

Anticipating opening its doors in May, the couple’s 11-year-old daughter, Harper, and 7-year-old son, Nash, are excited to be included in the family’s new endeavor and forward to helping around the shop.

Rob Fowler says his wife has had a lifelong sweet tooth and a love of baked goods, always stopping to visit bakeries and sweet shops. Inspired by her friend and mentor, Michelle, who owns an ice cream shop, Nicole Fowler says she has dreamed of doing the same and running her own store.

When one of her clients mentioned that there was no ice cream shop in St. Clair, Nicole Fowler says it felt like the right time to make that leap.

Currently in the construction phase, the business will be located downtown on the south side of the Riverside Plaza. The Fowlers say they are excited about their storefront’s location due to the proximity to the theater and look forward to visitors enjoying events or a stroll by the river which they hope will be a good source of traffic for their ice cream shop.

Fowler’s Creamery & Coffee will offer ice cream, baked goods, and other unique treats such as Hungarian donut “chimney” cones. The menu will also include specialty coffees, espresso, cappuccinos, and lattes. However, the Fowlers say their main focus will be their 36 flavors of good old-fashioned hand-scooped ice cream and milkshakes.

“We need to bring a little old-fashioned-ness back to this world and ice cream is just the thing,” says Nicole Fowler.
