What’s happening: It was only this past February when we shared the news that Albion-based manufacturer Caster Concepts had broken ground on a 16,000 sq. ft. expansion of its headquarters in the Calhoun County community. Now the manufacturer of heavy-duty casters and industrial caster wheels is ready to announce that the expansion has been completed.
Who they are: Caster Concepts is an industrial, heavy-duty wheel and caster manufacturer founded in Albion in 1987. The company has grown significantly since its founding, and this most recent expansion in rural Calhoun County marks the company’s fourth such expansion since 1995.
What it does: This most recent expansion included facilities for a larger engineering department, expanded floor space for product development and testing, additional truck docks, and more office space, manufacturing areas, and employee facilities.

Community partner: The company is notable for its work in Albion and the surrounding community, which includes education and technology initiatives for local kids and teenagers. Caster Concepts, in partnership with Conceptual Innovations, founded
INNOVATE Albion, a teaching and training center for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and robotics in Southwest Michigan. Recently, in May 2023, the INNOVATE Albion first-year robotics team N.E.R.D Spark won first place in its division at FIRST Championship, an international robotics competition in Houston with more than 18,000 students from 59 countries.
